THANKSGIVING

We were so lucky this year to have Michael and Kim's family come for Thanksgiving! Nothing like having little one's in the house! Just have to LOVE it! We enjoyed having them at our house and spending time with all of them. We got to spend a lot of time playing with the grandbabies, too! One night, they even got to go rollerskating! Oh....and there were also "music lessons"! :)
Lots of fun! On Thanksgiving, we spent the morning taking Michael and the grandbabies out to the "DeerClub" to ride quads. Sage and Dallin LOVED it! Even though it was cold they enjoyed getting rides. They also loved being able to climb on the tractors and backhoes! We then came home and enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving dinner. Although, I overcooked the turkey! Oh, well, it's the company that matters right?

It was a very enjoyable time for all of us! I'm so very Thankful for my family!

Sister's Weekend=M&M's=Me and My Sisters!

I have been blessed in my life to have 3 older sisters! (Yep, I'm the baby of the family and yes, I'm spoiled rotten!! :) ) As you know, my mother passed away when I was 9 years old. As sisters, we created a very special bond. We look out for each other and noone messes with any of us, because if you do, you mess with all of us! lol As we were growing up, I can honestly say we weren't always the best of friends, but fortunately as adults, we truly are. We love the time that we can do things together. In fact, when we are together, we usually drive everyone else around us nuts because we get a little crazy! Because of this several years ago, as sisters we decided that every so often we would do a "Sisters Weekend". This meant we would take time to be with just each other....no husbands, no kids, no grandkids=no responsibility! This year we decided it was the year to get together again. We started planning early. It was amazing how busy everyone's schedule was between the 4 of us. We all submitted our calendars with our plans for the year and we were able to find a weekend in November that we were all available....no marriages, no kids coming to visit, no Girl's Camp, no Scouting events, no babies being born, no Family reunions, no camping trips, etc., etc., etc. We also decided that we would go to Portland, Oregon where my sister, Linda, lives and while there we would also go to "Time Out for Women". All I can say is that we had a wonderful weekend!

"Me & My Sisters" 49 years ago (above) and today (below)!
They did allow me to not have my fingers in my mouth!

When we act like this, our husbands are glad to not be around!

I truly am blessed to have AMAZING sisters to look up to! They have been such a strength to me! They were my examples growing up and they still are today! I love them so much!

Thanks Debbie, Cheryl & Linda! Can't wait for the next "Sisters Weekend"!

A trip to Denver!

There is so much to tell! As the song, "Improve the Shining Moments" says, "Time flies on wings of lightning; We cannot call it back!" I'm amazed how quickly it flies......in one week we'll be picking up our Missionary from the Washington Spokane Mission!.....Yes....I'll write about it after we get him and Disneyland with the family, too! :)

Okay....so what have we been blessed with to do???? We made a trip to Denver, Colorado! It was a lot of fun! We went to Justin and Mallories Colwell's temple wedding! A fun trip we had! We went to the capital and stood on the step that said, "One mile High"! Yep, I guess we were exactly a mile above sea level. So important that they engraved it into their capital steps!

We also spent time "playing around", obviously! lol We even ate at the "City Grille". It features the "Best Hamburger in Denver"! I have to admit it was really good and the fries were the best I've EVER tasted! And...I am a french fry connoisseur you know! lol
Even the squirrel wanted to have fun with us! Check out that pose! :)
I have to say there is a lot to do in Denver...unfortunately, I didn't always have my camera!
Also, we enjoyed our trip except for the fire alarm going off in our hotel and having to be evacuated until firemen could come and make sure all was clear. There wasn't even any smoke and the hotel personel just kept doing what they were doing inside the hotel! It did add some adventure into our travels! lol Also we didn't like the freeway "toll roads". If you're ever in Denver, make sure you avoid them! It adds up quickly and you have to pay to get off of them, too! Nice roads, but expensive and there are plenty of other ways to get around Denver!
The best part of the trip was having some time alone again with my best friend! Yep, I'm so lucky to be married to my best friend!

30 years and so many more waiting!

On August 9th, 1980, I married my best friend in the Oakland Temple! Little did I know then, just how much I'd truly love this man! I thought I loved him as much as I ever could that day. Boy, was I a naive 19 year old! My love grows deeper every day! I see him for who he is and what he helps me become. So grateful that we are eternal sealed together! It's been a great 30 years! Have they all been wonderful bliss? No. But they all have been worth every effort that we make to make our eternal marriage work. And each year, my love truly continues to grow! Truly amazing to me!

So....in 1980.....we went to Lake Tahoe for our honeymoon. We'd been married for approximately 30 hours, when we decided to go and rent mopeds! This was a bad idea because in the first 30 minutes of riding said moped, I went around a corner on some gravel and CRASHED!!! So....after a lot of stress on Scott's behalf, me going in and out of shock, and a call for an ambulance, I ended up in the emergency room! Many hours later, I woke to having a part of my head shaved, so they could put stitches in my head. I also had scrapes and cuts all over me. Worse yet, the hospital hadn't let Scott know anything of what was going on and he spent those hours wondering if I was going to live or die, and how he was going to tell my dad! Fortunately, I, obviously, survived! But, I spent the rest of the week passing out because of a head injury and not feeling too good. Yes, a honeymoon to never forget!

So, what do we do 30 years later, the week of August 9th, 2010??????? We decide that 2 wheels are not enough and go for 4! A trip of quad riding in the area of Manti, Utah! I have to say that it was so much fun! It was an anniversary that I'll never forget! Beside riding the quads, we went to the Manti Temple on 3 different days and participated in sessions. What a great and beautiful experience that was! Loved it so much! We also camped for a couple of days and I also participated in real golf...1st time ever! (Yes, miniature golf is more my style! But, Scott wanted to do it, and we had a lot of fun!) We also visited the grandbabies and helped paint Michael and Kim's basement, so it was ready for their renters who were getting ready to move in.

It was a great week! And of course........one of the best parts of the week.....no trip to the ER! :)

So disappointed in the State of California!

Well, today the California Supreme Court gave their verdict of the "constitutionality" of the passing of Prop 8. There really isn't a surprise here in that they feel it is "unconstitutional". I have to say, I'm very disappointed. First what about my rights as a parent, grandparent, school employee, etc. Second, I'm disappointed that the voice of the people in California have been pushed aside for the 2nd time. It makes me kind of wonder why I voted!
Fortunately, I do know why I voted. I also know that we have righteous leaders leading our Church, who follow the Savior's example, because he is the one who leads the church. I'll continue following their example of how to deal with this disappointment and I'll continue to vote with my moral conscience. I do have a feeling this battle is not over.

Okay....so I have failed as a blogger......what's the problem???

Yes, I know, I had lots of plans to catch up this blog....now...school starts in 2 weeks, and I am way behind in blogging....what to do what to do....

LITTLE RECAPS OF THE PAST FEW MONTHS...WE'LL CALL IT "IN A NUTSHELL"!

END OF MARCH 2010......

My niece Lindsay got married to Garrett Mattson in Portland, Oregon...what does that mean?

We got to go to Portland to see the beautiful bride and handsome groom, and also spend some time decorating, and celebrating! Scott and my assignment????? Fix the trees to make a nice backdrop for behind the bride and groom! Yes, we did an awesome job! Plus, lay out the rolls on the table in a "eye catching" manner, and the most important....Cut the wedding cake! Yes, I now can put that on a resume...I can cut wedding cake and even move wedding cake layers without dropping them! I'm a pro!

Another fun thing from the wedding is getting to spend time with my sisters! We are the best of friends and we always have a great time!...(Things sure change when you grow up! lol)

Other significant activities of the month of March....we attended the Priest/Laurel Prom in Santa Rosa. Always an amazing festivity! I also, to my families relief, went to the doctor for those wonderful physicals.....Yes, I don't like them and so.....the last time...um....can't remember...so now I have a clean bill of health and another 10 years or so, right? lol

APRIL-April came and Scott had a Boy Scout campout to Shasta. I stayed home for a few days and then...guess where I went?.....I know, it's not a hard question....Utah grandbabies call my name and I have to see them! :) So much fun!

Also during April, Scott and Steven made another trek to the FRONT SIGHT Gun training course in Pahrump, Nevada. They once again had a GREAT time and are looking forward to the day when I'll go, too!

During April, Steven also celebrated his 27th birthday by going on a diet with Scott!

(I know, that's not exactly how I celebrate birthdays, but that's what they do, so what can I say....more cake for me????? :)
