Surprises in the yard!

Well....I admit, I do not have a "Green Thumb" in my yard! (My mother-in-law took all the talent there!) I would love to be able to keep plants alive, but the truth is, I can't! So the best I can do for my yard is throw seeds here and there and hope that they grow, and plant some plants hoping they survive for a few weeks to beautify the yard. I can also pull the weeds that decide they like all the spaces where the plants have died and the seeds didn't grow. So, this past week when I could get outside without dying from breathing fire smoke, I'd pull weeds. Today, the air was so much clearer, that I chose to stay out longer. I pulled weeds where they thought they'd never be found because they had been ignored for so long. Needless to say, I disrupted a happy little creature, too! I expect to find bugs, lizards, the neighbors cats, and even a snake now and then in my yard, but I did not expect to find what I did today........Yes, I scared a big black rat from it's home.....and it scared the eebie jeebies out of me, too! I am not fond of this creature at all! I'm going to have to pay the neighbors cats a little more money so they take care of it!!!! They need to become "ratters" instead of using my yard as their litter box! They are not my friend and this guy is not my friend! But, I'd much rather have the cats!

SHOCK!!!!

Am I grateful for dental insurance today! I took David in today to get his "Wisdom Teeth consultation" meeting with the oral surgeon. (Yes, David is getting rid of his teeth that are full of wisdom next Tuesday!....He now won't be able to tell me that he know everything! He will be "Wisdom" toothless! :-) Anyway, after hearing everything that would happen to David, by the oral surgeon, and watching a wonderful video about wisdom teeth removal, we went to the "billing receptionist". They don't want to tell you the price, until you've signed all the paperwork I guess! I now know why! What a shock we received there.......

Yes, this is the amount to get David's four wisdom teeth out. I am told that between mine and Scott's insurance, most of it may be covered! I sure hope they are right!

VACATIONS OVER

Well, after being on vacation from work for 3 weeks, Scott got to go back to work tonight. He looked pretty sad as he headed for the door to return to work. You could tell that he knew that he was going to have a lot of catch up to do for the time he missed! (That's not the way to end a vacation-by going back to work!) Although, I'm not quite sure his vacation was a vacation either! We had the family reunion in Idaho, and then he came back to a three stake youth conference that our stake was in charge of. It was a hectic couple of days around here trying to get everything lined up that had fallen apart while we were gone. Oh well, I'm sure he'll be ready for a nother vacation. Of course that will have to come after the Stake Boy Scout Camp he is in charge of in a couple of weeks. Some where there is a vacation with his name on it that will let him do lots of fishing.....He just hasn't gotten to it yet this summer! Hopefully, a fishing trip is in his near future. Until then, we'll just remind him that his "best catch" was me! LOL

Being a Grandma

Happiness is being a Grandma to the sweetest little girl around!
We went on an extended family vacation in the middle of June to Northern Idaho.
It was a lot of fun, and tiring, too.
The best part was having all of my own family there and getting to play with Sage.
She is so much fun and is such a people person.
I never imagined that being a Grandma could be so GREAT!

FIRE, FIRE, FIRE

With the fires in California, Steven was called out on a "Strike Team" that went to Humboldt Country. I always worry about that with his asthma! He was only gone for about 36 hours because he had to get back to town to work the ambulance! He is such a busy guy and we are so proud of him! He loves to be in the service of others by protecting and caring for them! Steve-o You're Awesome!

In Northern Cali right now we are trying to survive the smoke! We are living with the windows closed and hoping we don't have to go outside for anything. The aire quality is quite bad outside. There is a haze in the sky and in the evening the sun is red. I can't imagine how it is for the firefighters that are at the 800+ fires in the state. It must be terrible if it is this bad here. Fortunately for us, today there is a little bit of wind that is helping us survive and of course having an air conditioner! Now that's a BLESSING!!!!

Well, today I am being brave and trying out the blog world!
